All places at The Ashwood Academy are commissioned by Hampshire County Council’s Education Inclusion Service (EIS) and fall into one or both of the following categories:
A learner has either been or is at risk of permanent exclusion from a mainstream school within Basingstoke and Deane.
A learner has a Consultant level diagnosis which recommends education outside of a mainstream school, as attendance in large classes may cause the learner’s condition to deteriorate.
Schools wishing to refer a learner to the Academy must complete a referral and risk assessment and submit it to the EIS Area Strategic Manager, who will assess whether the learner meets the criteria and whether the referring school have already made significant efforts to address their individual needs.
When admitting a learner to the Academy, all parties must be in agreement that it is in the best interests of the learner.
