Following the success of the asymptomatic testing programme on the return to school and college, it is vital to keep testing at home throughout the Easter holidays and into the summer term. Staff and students should:
For the purposes of contact tracing staff, students, parents and carers need only inform the education setting of a positive case if the symptoms develop within 2 days of being in their education setting or they have tested positive with a lateral flow device (LFD) test (and will subsequently need to book a confirmatory PCR test). You are asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in their education setting. If symptoms develop after 2 days, they do not need to inform the setting. Where pupils, students or staff test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) during the holidays using an LFD test more than 2 days since being in an education setting, they will only need to inform their education setting if they will still be self-isolating when settings return. Staff, students, parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

Dear Parents,
Covid 19 update
In light of the latest government advice on schools reopening, The Ashwood Academy will not be opening the school up to year 10s until Monday the 15th June.
The government have stated that:
“On 24 May the Prime Minister announced that secondary schools should plan on the basis that from the week commencing 15 June, they can invite year 10 and 12 pupils (years 10 and 11 for alternative provision schools1) back into school for some face-to-face support with their teachers, subject to the government’s 5 tests being met.”
“Any plans that secondary schools have made for pupils to return earlier in June should be amended to commence from 15 June.”
The Ashwood Academy will continue to offer provision to our vulnerable students and those whose parents are key workers from Tuesday the 2nd of June. These students will be receiving a phone call on Monday.
Despite these challenging times, The Ashwood Academy would like to thank you for being supportive and we hope to go back to normality once it is safe to do so.
If you have any concerns/ queries, please remember our site number is contactable between the hours of 8:30am and 17:00pm on 07739511274.
Yours sincerely,
Siany Evans Headteacher
